When you figure it all out, let me know! lol I bought my domain a while ago, got rid of the hosting site that I had used for years and believe I can use my basic Wordpress site w/ the simple change of the domain name. Plus a monthly fee, of course. Then comes the link issues and alerting people, just as you're trying to do.

I'll make changes for your blog name with my own reader. Got to add you to my blog-list at Wordpress, too!

Oh my! This reminds me of when I needed to teach my sons when they were little to speak kind words to one another using Proverbs 16:24 'Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.' When I caught them being sweet to each other, I gave them each a chunk of honeycomb dripping with its sweet nectar (they loved it). HOWEVER, I warned them that if I caught them speaking UNkind words, they would receive a mouthful of dry mustard powder. Thank you, Carol, for the reminder of what those 'things' are in our children's hearts! It's especially hard when the child doesn't seem them as a prickly and ugly weed. But with prayer and much attentiveness to the weed, the Lord is faithful to help them! We praise the Lord for seeing that happen just recently! :) Love ya, KathyM

Oh yes! Very good point! weeding the garden of our children's hearts is as constant as weeding our veggie garden. For some reason this post has given me a strange "quiet". I know that I must "dig in" and that I am not alone. All good mothers are doing the same. Thank you Carol!

Thanks for sharing, Wendy. Not sure my boys would want to tie feet together so I think we'll stick with the bucket. Glad to hear someone likes these birds. The Cornish Cross just lay like sloths and you practically have to spoon feed them they're so lazy. These Freedom Rangers are flying over the fence!

We're on our third flock of Freedom Rangers now. I like them so much better than the Cornish Cross birds we raised last year!

We use the fish-scale to weigh ours, too. When it's time to sell or butcher, the only time we weigh ours, my husband ties their legs and then hangs them on the scale from that. The scale isn't the most accurate, but it's been working well enough for now. Will share the bucket idea with him and see thinks. :)

Wow! I'm super impressed with your gardening prowess.

My tiny plot is a 4 X 4 raised bed and contains two tomato plants (which the groundhog is already checking out), some green bell peppers, and an eggplant.

How do you handle pests like groundhogs?

Oh Kathy. I had to come to grips with the fact that I will never be a tomato farmer. I've spent so much time and energy on my tomatoes only to have them succumb to blight, blossom end rot, hail damage, you name it. Plus, I realized that all those tomatoes I can and put in our food get picked out of everything I serve to be scraped off of plates into the scrap bucket.

I'm just curious what it yielded, as 2 yrs ago I had 72 beautiful tomato plants, but they got the blight and we lost the whole row. I haven't had as much success with my tom. seedlings since then; and have sort of lost heart. :| Kathy

Your garden looks wonderful. :) Our garden is coming along and will hopefully have more than enough to share with others. Daughter cooked up some Swiss chard last night and marveled at how well it was growing. I saw beans yesterday, so I expect we will be picking the rows by Friday, yay!

Maybe these statistics would not be the norm with homeschooled kids? I don't know for sure but that's my hunch. I know that public schools do not have recess (free unstructured time outside) anymore. So once a child gets home, does chores, practices piano, and checks his Facebook page, how much time is left?

My kids were always outside too. They had their inside activities, but they always found something to do outside. Even though they are in their 20's now, they all still enjoy outdoor activities.
